These are the numbers for wizard spells in the 40s. Legend: CT = Cast time DMG = Damage C = Classic Q = A Quiet Place As you can see, the Q/C damage ratio for both ice comet and rend are very low compared to the other wizard DDs. With my numbers, ice comet and rend should be closer to a 1.44 Q/C ratio. We can adjust the mana and cast time to be more in line with the other ratios, as well. Ice Comet- 1613 damage 405 mana 5.7 cast time Rend - 1129 damage 300 mana 5.7 cast time I would like to discuss these changes, as ice comet is the defining spell for wizards and takes quite a bit of work to obtain in classic EQ.

Before I stick my hand in this, I want to see how dps classes compare at this level. I feel like wizzies are doing a bit to much dps due to the spells being non classic. If some one can provide parses for group fighting that would be great.

I think we are seeing the benefit of focus effects in some cases as well, since those didn't exist in classic from what I remember.
This just looks like the damage formula needs looked at.

From what I have seen, all spells are doing more damage than true classic due to being revamped at some point. Ice comet and Rend just don't match up and actually do less damage the classic equivalent in the case of ice comet. You guys said you made changes to the way melee is calculated, right?
I would like to know what spell dmg mages/druids are doing with their lvl 40-50 spells. If anyone has data, please post it.

Currently Spell damage is much higher then it was during "This time on Live" I need to look at DPS from all classes before I start tweaking spell damage for all classes. The focus effects do indeed make spells more powerfull. But at some point in the timeline of EQ they increased Caster DPS due to gear saturation on melee characters. Your spells tooltips will display the damage you are doing, But I'm saying for classic EQ spell dps wasn't as high as we have it.

I don't think we messed with melee damage at all, unlike Drehar did and I didn't know about it somehow.

No I think that ideology comes from the original tweaks we had made last time and were on the Server Info Page on EQEMU.

I have a parse from nagafen where rhalous was only ahead by about 5 percent on dps compared to his monk valkez. Granted this is a really small sample size but I'd expect him to be that far ahead cuz of focus effects, we were also lacking shaman buffs. My monk was underleveled as was my warrior, cake was 51 and he did around a few percent less than valkez. Id say melee are not as far off as you think when properly leveled. eqlog_Mesmash_A Quiet Place - Classic.txt (422.68 KB)

on a side note, on my melee I see my max skill cap for certain skills is like 220 or 230 but it seems locked at 200, that could cause a pretty significant discrepancy in damage when looking at offense or 1hslash values.

2nd side note, the wizard behavior is definitely a case of mix of prevamp and post revamp spells, but also not every rank in spell is going to be better than the last in every category, ice comet was notorious for the hardest hitting spell, not necessarily the best mana efficiency or cast time. There are cases where the use is warranted and not warranted.

Because the post 51 caps go up to 255 I thought? I can look though, might have effed this up.
Although my monk has skills well beyond that (h2h i think).

yeah its weird some skills go up as they should, others seem locked. My warrior is 49 i think for example and his 1h slashing is capped at 200, even though the cap on the skill window says like 225 or something. This is using titanium even.
